Eat A Healthy Breakfast To Help Lose Weight

Health experts emphatically state that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. There are many reasons why eating a healthy breakfast can help your wellness, physical needs, and even your mood. You should never skip breakfast, especially if you are trying to lose weight. You may think that you need to skip breakfast and cut the calories but this will not help you. If you skip breakfast, the chances of you eating a bigger lunch are much higher. Your body will be hungry from not having enough nutrients, therefore making you eat more than your body needs.

Get your metabolism going

When you wake up in the morning, your body is still somewhat in sleep mode. Sleep mode will not help your body lose the weight you want it to. Your metabolism slows down considerably as you sleep. Having a good metabolism rate helps your body burn off the calories it does not need. This is why it is so important to eat breakfast every morning. Once you eat breakfast, your metabolism starts up again and begins burning those calories.

There are plenty of healthy breakfast food choices. Low calorie cereals make for an easy breakfast in the morning and can offer your body many different nutrients. If you have a little more time in the morning, eggs are full of protein and nutrients and if you want to add a little more to that, try some whole wheat toast with low calorie butter. You can also eat oatmeal, yogurt, fresh fruit, English muffins, or whole wheat pancakes or waffles. Just be sure that you watch portion size, as you want to keep your caloric intake at a reasonable level.

Reduce cream and sugar

Many people get up looking forward to a few cups of coffee and choose to have coffee loaded with creamer and sugar.  If you choose to just drink coffee over eating breakfast, this is not a very healthy option. Try to cut out coffee and replace it with juice, green tea, or milk. If you MUST have a cup of coffee, keep it to one cup with no sugar and a little bit of cream. There are delicious juices that are full of nutrients and give you the energy you need to start the day. You may also choose to drink some green tea, which is quite healthy for your body.

Breakfast really is the most important meal of the day. It gives you the energy you need to start your day off right and also gets your metabolism starting earlier in the day, which is great for trying to lose weight.

Strawberry Yogurt Smoothie

1 cup fresh or frozen strawberries

1 cup Greek yogurt

½ cup Almond milk

1 cup ice

Mix all together in a blender and enjoy this delicious smoothie.


Apple, Cinnamon, and Raisin Oatmeal

1 apple, diced

½ cup raisins

1 teaspoon cinnamon

½ cup oatmeal

Prepare oatmeal as directed and add the rest of the ingredients. Stir and enjoy!
